Write with me πŸ’–

Honestly I just needed an image and Community remains one of my all-time favorite TV shows.

Community write-along

Spending the first year of this newsletter experimenting with different topics, formats, and ideas has been rewarding, and I want to roll out a new experiment: weekly prompts.

For the rest of the year, this newsletter is where I’ll push myself to write and publish a piece of flash fiction every week, and I’m inviting all of you to join me!

Here’s how it’ll work:

—Each week I’ll share the prompt for the upcoming week.

—Spend time writing based on the prompt. While I’m working on flash fiction, which is anything under 1,500ish words, I’d encourage you to choose whatever length and genre suits you best, whether that’s non-fiction, poetry, memoir, genre fiction, or something that defies categorization.

—Share! Or don’t! Writing can be intensely personal, and there’s nothing wrong with writing for yourself and only yourself. But if you’d like to share I’d be happy to publish a link to your work, either on a website or in a Google Doc, as part of my weekly post!

—Your submission can be anonymous.

—I am not the AI police, all I ask is that if you do choose to use AI in your shared writing, that you add a note making it clear that the piece was AI-assisted.

Next week’s prompt:

I think I left the iron on
